Nihil est / Il tempo perduto and enclosed spaces
The project follows the seven-part work "In Search of the Past Time" by Marcel Proust. More precisely, the chapter entitled: "In the shade of young girls in bloom".
It is the withdrawal of the protagonist (Manuela) in a closed room without windows on the outside (a sort of Monaden structure). The protagonist tries to remember (in pictures).
Proust gives considerable importance to enclosed spaces, as a room can be, and to shut themselves up in order to "listen" better to the inner voices of our self. The importance of the theme of closing in a room becomes clearer if one bears in mind that the same author, suffering from the disease, spends his brief youth locked up, like Noah in the ark.
A project by Beat Kuert in colaboration with Manuela Badalamenti including some of her paintings.
